The D’Angelo Department of Music offers students the opportunity to perform and collaborate with two resident ensembles:

YADO
The YADO (Young Artists Debut Orchestra) is an Erie-based middle school and high school community orchestra in residence at the D’Angelo Department of Music. Directed by Frank Collura, the ensemble provides the framework for young community musicians to supplement their school musical activities with music lessons from distinguished faculty, an instrument to practice on, solo opportunities with the orchestra, participation in small ensembles, and coaching and mentoring by professional musicians. Music majors from the D’Angelo Department of Music have the opportunity to supplement the ranks of the ensemble to augment their orchestral repertoire experience, and foster working relationships with younger musicians, preparing them for later roles as teachers and mentors.

ADO
The After Dinner Opera Company, established in New York City in 1950, boasts a distinguished history of world premieres and unique opera presentations in the U.S. and abroad. A resident ensemble of the D’Angelo Department of Music since 2004, the company now provides voice students in the program the opportunity to make their debuts in New York City in periodic performances of new and established works. Recent presentations in New York include Offenbach’s Tales of Hoffmann, Robert Ward’s Roman Fever, and three one-act operas by the distinguished American composer, Seymour Barab, who supervised many aspects of the productions.
